In line with this commitment, we are proud to introduce the Oaklea Complex Care Unit within Ashlea Court Care Home—a pioneering 26-bed specialist unit designed to deliver high-quality care for individuals with complex conditions, including dementia. As the first of its kind, this unit represents our dedication to innovation and excellence in specialist healthcare.

As Chef, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, nutritious meals that enhance the well-being of our residents. This is more than just cooking—it is about creating meals that bring comfort, dignity, and enjoyment to those in our care.

What You Will Do
- Meal Preparation – Assist with preparing, cooking, and serving hot and cold meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
- IDDSI Standards – Ensure all meals comply with the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI), providing safe and appropriate textures for residents with swallowing difficulties.
- Menu Planning – develop seasonal menus that offer variety, balance, and nutritional value.
- Kitchen Operations – Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring a safe and well-organised kitchen environment.
- Stock Control & Ordering – Assist in stock rotation, ordering supplies, checking deliveries, and managing food storage.
- Health & Safety – Follow food safety regulations, maintain accurate records of food temperatures, and uphold all Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Training & Supervision – Support kitchen staff and assist with Basic Food Hygiene training for care staff involved in food service.
- Ensure seamless service and high-quality meal production.
What We Are Looking For
- Culinary Qualifications – City & Guilds 706 " 1 & 2, or an equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards).
- Food Hygiene Certification – Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is essential.
- Team Player – Ability to work effectively with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team.
- Attention to Detail – Strong understanding of food presentation, quality control, and portioning.
- Organisational Skills – Ability to manage multiple tasks and support efficient kitchen operations.
- Care Sector Experience – Experience in a care environment is beneficial but not essential.
